Horton Hears a Who! Have you seen this movie? Go see it please! Horton Hears a Who is easily one of the best movies I have seen ever. When I say I liked Matrix, I liked a part of it... When I say I liked KungFu Hustle, I liked it for its action... when I say I liked Hot Rod, well, my crazy side enjoys it, I like inspirational movies like V for Vendetta and Lagaan... but Horton Hears a Who! is a movie that I liked for everything, all adjectives possible, for comedy, noise, values, fast-paced, drama, survival, emotions, inspirational... simply everything.
I know some of you have severe allergy from animated movies since they are (so called) kids' stuff. Well I wont spend time arguing that animated movies are good but I would like to convince you to just see this one animated movie please.
Those who like animated movies, you will forget all those older moving ones like Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Monster Inc, Cars if you see this one: Horton Hears a Who! Also you might have got bored of some recent copy cats of each others, like Madagascar, The Wild, Open Season, *some pengiun movies* etc etc etc.... NOT WITH THIS!!!
When these days it seems creating an oscar movie is incredibly easy... just make a war movie, or cast Robert De Neiro and other mueseum statues, or show gigantic production figures, or make something anti-racist (being racist inside, e.g. 'The Kingdom') or spell superb special effects... Horton Hears a Who! goes in a totally lateral direction. When movie critics (aka tards) think deep to justify some movie as a classic (serious gay oscar stuff), it is not hard to call this movie great and memorable.
Ok I wont be harsh on Godfather-ish style movies else you wont see this movie. I take all back what I wrote in above paragraph, else you wont see this movie. Please see it!
Horton Hears a Who! shows an elephant's extreme determination and amazing forgiveness (voice acted by Jim Carrey). The movie starts as a really good comedy flick but catches seriousness, wonderfully maintaining its humorous touch, not to forget the movie moves just quite fast. If you know 'Steve Carrell' (Bruce Almighty, Evan Baxter), he has also done some awesome voice acting of another main character in this movie.
The movie's soundtrack has unbelievable amount of noise! The context of the movie makes it really beautiful! The movie does have a message at the end which simply doesnt matter. The whole movie has just so many messages the last one sounds insignificant.
Nothing's perfect: the animation is not top quality but honestly it does the job of depicting everything in appropriate detail, nothing more was necessary but could have been better. That is the only complaint I guess I have from the movie.
Noticable thing is that this movie (I bet) will be enjoyable by everyone from a child to a teen to a middle aged to an old person. Whether a superficial viewer or a hardcore-movie-critic, you will enjoy it. A suggestion that I will give is that if at all you like this movie, see it again! It gets better and better in each replay.
Please see it!

Thats great! I love animated movies and make sure that I've seen most of the main stream movies released every year :P
I have this movie in my queue, am planning on sitting and watching with the whole family one day.
Saw a little bit of it in the in-flight TV during my trip.Didn't see the whole movie because I know my mom and others will also enjoy it :D
such a strong review. can't wait to watch it.
and you cant just like a part of The Matrix. Go watch it again.
amazing movie.. glad you posted about it :)
Shiben, man, you have spoken after my heart.
This is like the awesomest movie of 2008 (Better than the big-fighting-machine movies like Ironman and Incredible Hulk)
I remember we were reduced to tears in one of the scenes because we were laughing to hard (Vlad ? Who Vlad ? the bunny who bakes cookies? No, the evil one ? Yeah, good call :D) and the other in which we were reduced to tears (a person is a person, no matter how small)
Good review....10 o 10 to the movie and to the entry :)
Correction:
Steve Carell - The "Evan Almighty" guy and more popularly "Michael Scott" from "The Office" :)
@reetesh: So true man, its a movie to see in privacy as well as see it with frnds/family :)
@smr: dont miss it man!
@neo: oh well, man, I have to say that you clearly have to skip some parts after seeing it 20-30 times to enjoy some moments of it. Thats y I said I liked parts of it.
@Shrek: amazing is the word man truly :)
@Vivek: Exactly man, tears cause of laughter or cause of emotional stuff, the movie is full of it! The Who's chants to prove their significance was truly overwhelming for my eyes :') and Horton's forgiveness :)
worst piece of crap i ever saw. i want those 3 hrs back. 2 hrs of the movie and 1hrs cursing you to make me watch it.
It was the worst piece of crap u ever saw? really? roflmao, rofl, rofl.
I mean, yeah, you may not have liked the movie but it is definitely not the worst piece of crap you might have seen, lol
I dont believe in IMDB but may be u will start calling it a good movie by seeing its rating equal to 7.5 (this happens 2 many ppl i know, may b will happen 2 u 2, hehehe)
ok i concede, its not the worst piece of crap i have ever seen. its one of the worst stories for an animated movie. it makes you bleed out of your eyes while you look for a gun to end your suffering, other than that, its ok i guess.
Worst story for an animated movie? Again... really? What else do u want man? An animated Juno? or a Snatch remake? Or i am assuming you liked those madagascar, 2 3 penguin movies, and The wild, and open season etc etc and thus did not like sudden change in monotonicity?
In any case, if you did not like the movie, i cannot make you like it, but your only argument (bad... oh wait... "worst" story) is quite hollow: The movies one of the strength (apart from good voice acting and being really funny) was its wacky story.
woha! i didnt mean to touch any nerves there. but i will maintain the story is not funny.
*duck*
dude, what you really should have doen is sling so much shit at the movie that anyone with the curiosity to see what could possibly be so bad would find ITS NOT BAD AT ALL,call you a crazy mother*****r,sing more praises of the movie than you ever planned to and thereby give the movie the reception you wanted for it. You built it up too much maan!!! with an intro like that... anyone is bound to be disappointed in a major way.
Don't judge this movie saying "any1 'will' get disappointed". You did not like it?... then say it as Rohan (above) did. (Well not exactly like him, lol, he seemed more like practicing some trash talk, hehe)
I am doing my best for this awesome movie for every1 to see it, since it looks like, no1 even knows the name of this movie, whatever marketing was done for it.
The way you say, works for movies which every1 have heard about... it doesn't work that way for lesser known movies.
hey, i was just bored and looking for some time pass :D
rofl! well time well passed (here too) :D
Dude, I finally saw the Movie yesterday :D and it was awesome! The biggest surprise of it all was that.
Its a movie based on a character who says one of the most memorable dialog I EVER heard!
There was this old cartoon where an elephant incubates an egg for a lazy bird and its really cool 10 minute thing. He keeps on saying
"I said what I meant and I meant what I said..."
I always remember that dialogue whenever I see an elephant or make promises/aims for finishing something :P
and when we were watching the movie, there was a break and I was thinking of that dialogue again.
just after that.. I saw the scene where Morton comes and talks to horton and he says that dialogue!
No wonder Horton looked very familiar, after he said that, I remembered the elephant from the cartoon (which was pink in colour and looked scary at times :P ) and it was infact SAME as horton the likeness was 100% (except for colour)
That made me like the movie even more :P it was indeed very fun and nice movie :D My mom liked it a lot too!
I searched the net afterwards and saw that cartoon was also by Dr.Suess and was "horton hatches an egg" and the quote is from that movie :D
Tried to get it in youtube but it was not there :(
woot.. that was a long and excitement filled comment :P
Oh yeah! The elephant is the heart of the movie! Dr Seuss fans have really liked the movie, but i believe the characters were built in the movie really well from ground up for any1 2 like them.
Hahah! his buddy morton is 99% awesome! rofl!!
I shud watch 'Horton hatches a egg', it sounds very interesting... should be able to get it. Will let u knw if i get it :)
