This movie, which 'was' meant for youngsters, has been severely contorted to suit the general audience.Honestly speaking if you are keeping this movie in the segment of funny and stupid movies like Awara Pagal Diwana or Hera Pheri then it is good!... because it was quite funny and quite idiotic as the title suggests! Unfortunately, I don't think, that is the direction in which the makers wanted it to be.
No wonder Chetan Bhagat is a bit pissed. He is shouting credits this, script that,.. he is not able to convey his point proper (yeah why is that Chetan? just say it!) that the movie is not good and creates a wrong impression of his book. I have not read the book, don't know if its good or bad, I aint no fan of his either, have been making fun of him on twitter... whatever, what am sayin is, if he wrote it for young people (right?) and if the movie is fully kiddish, then surely he is not comfortable with this movie.
The judgment is yours. You can see this movie with mom, dad, uncle, aunty and your super young cousins. Its a proper family movie. Its like that Koi Mil Gaya or Tare Zameen Par movie. It felt like that all the time. FYI I liked both BUT in the context that both of them were meant to be family movies.
Rock on movie had a much entertaining as well as serious way of telling us, more or less, the same message this movie has.
My point is, this movie could have been made so much better just with a little intensity, seriousness and reality. This whole movie is joke after joke. By my personal experience (or anyone's for that matter), I know it was not always fuuuun time with friends in college. There were heated arguments, proper fights from time to time. This movie is making it look like only clowns go to college. It's just unnatural. YES, again, making it the-way-it-is makes it a family movie (thus more audience). But a little intensity from Gulaal kind of movies could have made this a brilliant piece of work.
Above are my concrete thoughts. But I am not able to decide the following:
May be its for the good? Because, of course, becoming a family movie, it is accessible to the parents who really need to see the message. Or may be, I can also go and say, this movie is hypocritic, as it asks you to follow excellence but it itself followed success by applying methods of comedy movie rule book. What do you say?
Bhagat's book is no good .. movie is way better .. atleast it doesn't act as if its realistic or serious like the book does. an the movie is way way funnier :P
ReplyDeleteand yeah the movie could have been much much better :)
Why such a hallaboo over a movie. Watch it, forget it I say - it's no LOTR.
ReplyDeleteAnd dude, 4 years of engineering life v/s 3 hours of movie and money to hoard at box office - think you got the picture :)
dude .. buy yourself a new game dvd and finish it .. don't waste your time in this bollywood crap .. you are a gem and waste of your gaming time can really take a tol on human race!!!
ReplyDelete@mythalez I41 think that the topic needs 2 b a lil serious. Munna Bhai MBBS etc. were genuinely good. If this director always makes these kinds of movies, doesnt mean I will accept anything in his format.
ReplyDelete@Vivek true man, but still, its the major topic these days so thought lets wash the hands in the behti ganga, rofl.
@Kulbir arey true man, but it just occured to me 2 days back that seeing movies is also an option. So will watch a few for some days :)
lol@kulbir :P
ReplyDeleteI think most of aamir's movie appeal to the common junta who couldn't make it big. Engineering is once (and even now) a highly respected profession. Instead of blaming the parents for aspiring/inspiring/motivating their kids towards engg the univs/schools should be blamed they should be blamed alone for their poor standards of education. There'll always be a majority of idiots who couldn't do well with their degrees this movie is for those idiots.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you write "ORB is a bug that bites" ??
ReplyDelete@Anonymous I wrote a paragraph for u and then i deleted it... because that is not wat i want 2 discuss. its complicated. I m just being mean to the movie, thats all.
ReplyDelete@ShArK
I have just seen silence of the lambs and the following 2 movies, back to back, and rite now I will say, I write that because...
I am Hannibal Lector! **tense opera music playing in the background**

ReplyDelete^^ "Such a good blog later see how to do ah! ! !"
ReplyDeletethanks man, scared 2 open ur links though
dude! I completely agree. It could have been soo much better. I think these movies can do a much better job of bringing the right issues to light and awakening them, but they dont, just make 300cr rupees and win awards.
ReplyDeletebtw.. few people say this one also killed a few people.. i dont think thats completely right, but I dont disagree as well.
PS : can you correct the link to my blog ?
@Ankur, Yeah dood will do that :)
